Baptism Baptisms at St Agatha’s are celebrated on the 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month.  For further information and bookings, please contact the Parish Office 3262 2859.

Documents required:

  • Copy of the Catholic parent baptism certificate
  • Copy of the Catholic Godparent/s baptism certificate
  • Copy of child’s birth certificate

Godparent/s:

Godparent/s need to be at least 16 years old, not the child’s parent, a Catholic who has been Confirmed, received Communion and who lives a life of faith. If you wish to have more than one Godparent, at least one must be a Catholic.

If you don’t reside in the Parish area, you will need to provide us with a letter from your local Parish Priest, giving permission for your child to be baptised at St Agatha’s.

There is an admin fee of $50 payable prior to the baptism.

Confirmation Once children have turned 8 (Year 3), they are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation administered by the Bishop or his delegate. We advertise the timetable in both the Parish and School newsletters.
Eucharist In the year when the children turn 9 (Year 4), they are welcomed to the Lord’s Table and receive Holy Communion for the first time. Dates for 2019 are yet to be confirmed. As soon as dates are finalised we will update this site and advertise in both the Parish and School newsletters.
Penance (Reconciliation) Penance is offered every Saturday 4.30pm at the church. Come and celebrate one of the two healing sacraments of the church.

Introducing children to the greatness of God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Penance is a two step process. A simple celebration of the second rite of the Sacrament of Penance is included as part of the preparation for First Communion.

In the year when the children turn 10 (Year 5) they are prepared to celebrate more fully the Sacrament of Penance with individual confession and absolution (the first rite). This builds on the work of the previous year as they take the second step and learn in greater detail what it means to examine their conscience.
