Dear sisters and brothers,
This Sunday we are holding the Annual Catholic Campaign to support the work of a number of important ministries in the Archdiocese. For the past two weeks, you would have seen the Annual Catholic Campaign brochures on the pews. The Annual Catholic Campaign combines the four previous Archdiocesan appeals to support the good works of the Church in our own community. This change has been successful thanks to the generosity of so many of you, especially those who give a regular monthly donation.
The ministries supported are:
Holy Spirit Seminary which trains future priests of our parishes
Centacare Pastoral Ministries which gives invaluable Catholic pastoral care to people in hospitals, prisons, psychiatric care, and local Aboriginal communities
The Priests Foundation which provides for the health and accommodation needs of our retired priests
The Mary MacKillop Catholic School Access Fund which provides Catholic school bursaries to children from impoverished families for the duration of primary and or secondary school
This Sunday we will view a recorded homily from Archbishop Mark Coleridge. At the end of this homily you will be asked to make a gift in support of these ministries. A gift in any amount – large or small – is deeply appreciated. And if you are in a position to make a regular monthly gift, please prayerfully consider this option. This gift will have a lasting impact on the people that benefit from this work.
We will take up a special collection for the Campaign after the homily. Please use the Campaign envelopes on the pew beside you. If you would like to be receipted in your name, please include your details.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to talk to me after Mass. Please give generously and support the mission of our local Archdiocese. Of behalf of those who benefit from your gift, I thank you for your continued support and generosity.
Fr. Anthony
