Marriage

Congratulations on this momentous step in life.

Catholic Marriage takes place in a church to ask God to bless and consecrate a couple in a permanent and faithful union of love. It becomes a sacrament of Christian love, a sign of the union of Christ and the Church. The priest or deacon’s role is to witness this consent on behalf of the Church, to help the couple prepare for the marriage, and to celebrate the wedding liturgy with them.

If you are interested in entering the sacrament of marriage at St Agatha’s Church, please contact us directly to discuss your marriage and the preparation for it. It is wise to book ahead as far as possible, as our church is a popular venue for weddings. Please note that weddings will not be celebrated on the following dates:  Palm Sunday weekend and Holy Week (which includes Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday) or public holidays.

If you don’t reside in the Parish area (Clayfield, Ascot, Hamilton, Nundah, Hendra, Albion) you will need to arrange your own priest to officiate at your wedding.
