Baptism Baptisms at St Agatha’s are celebrated on the 3rd and 4th Sundays of the month.  For further information and bookings, please contact the Parish Office 3262 2859.

Following is the list of documents required:

  • Copy of the Catholic parent baptism certificate
  • Copy of the Catholic Godparent/s baptism certificate
  • Copy of child’s birth certificate

Godparent/s:

Godparent/s need to be at least 16 years old, a Catholic who has been Confirmed, received Communion and who lives a life of faith (not the child’s parent). If you wish to have more than one Godparent, at least one must be a baptised Catholic.

There is an admin fee of $50 payable prior to the baptism.

Confirmation Once children have turned 8 (Year 3), they are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation administered by the Bishop or his delegate. We advertise the timetable on the website and  in both the Parish and School newsletters.
Eucharist In the year when the children turn 9 (Year 4), they are welcomed to the Lord’s Table and receive Holy Communion for the first time. We advertise the timetable on the website and in both the Parish and School newsletters.
Penance (Reconciliation) Introducing children to the greatness of God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Penance is a two step process. A simple celebration of the second Rite of the Sacrament of Penance is included as part of the preparation for First Communion.

In the year when the children turn 10 (Year 5) they are prepared to celebrate more fully the Sacrament of Penance with individual confession and absolution ( First Rite). This builds on the work of the previous year as they take the second step and learn in greater detail what it means to examine their conscience.
